Bucs provide update on Mike Edwards following injury against Panthers

Mike Edwards suffered a hamstring injury that saw him leave their game against the Panthers and now his status against the Raiders is clear.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been a revolving door of health issues in their secondary in 2024. They have signed several players as replacements, including Mike Edwards.

In Week 13, Mike Edwards suffered a hamstring injury that forced him to leave their game against the Panthers, and now his status against the Raiders is clear.

Jenna Laine of ESPN reported on Tuesday that Edwards is expected to be out at least a week with a Grade 1 hamstring strain. The Bucs saw Edwards as a potential playmaker in the defensive back room, and they have made a move to help replace his production.

The Bucs signed Kaevon Merriweather off the Detroit Lions practice squad. Merriweather had spent some time with the Bucs in 2024 before being waived and picked up by Detroit. He played in nine of the first ten games for the Bucs this season, mostly on special teams, but now he seems primed for an expanded role.
