There were low exceptions for the Buccaneers’ offensive line going into the 2023 NFL season. Tampa Bay ranked as the 9th best offensive line in 2022, but there was plenty of turnover on the line other than LT Tristan Wirfs. The team brought in guards Matt Feiler and Cody Mauch and had C Robert Hainsey starting unexpectedly for the second year in a row,
However, since the start of the 2023 season, the Bucs linemen have proved themselves to still be one of the best units in the NFL. Pro Football Focus ranked the Buccaneers offensive line as No. 10 in its Week 4 rankings.
Here’s what it had to say about Tampa Bay’s performance against the New Orleans Saints:
The Buccaneers’ offensive line kept the Saints’ pass rush in check for most of the afternoon, allowing just five pressures on 39 dropbacks and ranking second in the league in pass-blocking efficiency for the week.
PFF acknowledged the rise of OT Luke Goedeke, who was No. 70 among offensive linemen rankings a year ago. Goedeke is now the No. 25-best offensive lineman in the league according to PFF.
Wirfs was tabbed the best player on the Bucs offensive line by PFF, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. He didn’t allow any pressure against the Saints, and he ranks as the third-best offensive tackle this season by PFF and the best pass blocker overall.
