Bucs’ Mike Evans is closing in on history following big Week 1 performance

Ten years into his career, he has not only been a model of consistency but is also closing in on a special place in the record books.

Mike Evans has cemented himself into a special place in the history of the NFL. Despite being overshadowed by his college quarterback coming out of Texas A&M, he has done a subtle yet boisterous job of reminding everyone each Sunday how talented he is.

Ten years into his career, he has not only been a model of consistency but is also closing in on a special place in the record books.

After scoring two touchdowns Sunday against the Washington Commanders, Evans is just four touchdowns away from joining the 100-receiving touchdown club. That club currently only has ten members, and when you consider how many people have played in the NFL that speaks to how truly special that achievement will be for him.

The all-time leader in touchdown receptions is Jerry Rice, with 197, and while Evans’s beating that seems like a long shot, it doesn’t take away from his Hall of Fame career. Being alongside players such as Steve Largent, Don Hutson, Tony Gonzalez, Larry Fitzgerald, and Marvin Harrison is going to leave a legacy that outweighs anything else.

Tampa Bay has been lucky to have someone like Mike Evans represent them and the city; he will soon do it and be forever enshrined in Canton, Ohio.
