Bucs have been tight-lipped about draft plan as Round 1 approaches

ESPN insider Todd McShay claims those around the league can’t get a read on Jason Licht and his staff.

Round 1 of the NFL draft is merely days away, and with the impending draft comes lots of gossip.

There’s plenty of it to go around at the moment, and ESPN insider McShay revealed some of the talk around the league’s executives, scouts and coaches in a new article on Monday. Much of it was spent discussing what those around the league have been saying about the Texans’ intentions and where exactly quarterback Will Levis will fall in the draft, but McShay noted there was one particular team that those in the NFL circle have been unable to read — the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Here is what McShay said about Tampa Bay:

Speaking of Tampa Bay, everyone is trying to figure out its plan. The Buccaneers have been very quiet. There’s some mystery around their approach, but some people have wondered if they’d be in on a quarterback if one drops.

Talk of picking a QB isn’t new with the Bucs, as the team has been linked with Levis and Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker (the team have brought both in for visits). While it makes sense that those around the league would think the Bucs are in need of QB in the wake of Tom Brady’s departure, the team also has more pressing needs that it could address with the No. 19 overall pick.

It seems that Tampa Bay’s true intentions will only be revealed on Thursday when they are scheduled to make its first pick later in the night.
