Plenty of recent mocks have had the Tampa Bay Buccaneers picking quarterback Will Levis, but a new mock from the Athletic doesn’t have the Bucs going QB.
The Athletic’s Josh Kendall has the Bucs taking Tennesee offensive tackle Darnell Wright, who will likely be one of the last remaining premier tackles at pick No. 19 if the Bucs are able to draft one. Here is what he wrote about the Bucs’ selection:
“This is a timeline pick for Tampa Bay. It was very tempting to go with Texas running back Bijan Robinson here, but it doesn’t make a lot of sense in the long run. Pairing Wright, who turned a lot of heads at the combine, with Tristan Wirfs gives the Bucs a very good young duo at tackle, which should make for a welcoming home for the rookie quarterback that looks headed to this team in 2024.”
Pairing Wright with Wirfs would be interesting, as Wright has mainly played as a right tackle in college. Either Wirfs or Wright would have to be moved to the left tackle position, and seeing how there have already been discussions of moving Wirfs over, it would be interesting to see what Tampa Bay would do if they were to land Wright in the draft.
