The Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed wide receiver Mike Evans to a new two-year contract extension this offseason, but with the way he’s playing at the moment, the team is already looking down the road to another potential deal with the five-time Pro Bowler.
At 30 years old last season, Evans had one of the best seasons of his Hall of Fame career, catching 79 passes for 1,255 yards, and tied for the league lead with 13 touchdown receptions. He did all that after transitioning to a new starting quarterback in Baker Mayfield, after playing with Tom Brady for the previous three seasons.
While many could be of the mind that this new two-year deal will be the last one of Evans’ career, Bucs general manager Jason Licht knows that if he continues to play at a high level, he’ll be getting another one in a couple of years:
Jason Licht on Mike Evans:
“We think he’s still in his prime. In fact, very much so… and I wouldn’t be surprised if we actually signed him to another contract extension after this one’s done, the way he’s motivated right now.” #GoBucs https://t.co/SPhk7QoPp1 pic.twitter.com/ktyRg7Ura7

Evans is sure to be a Buc for life, but considering how well Evans is still performing in his 30s, it might take another contract extension to make that happen.
