Bucs CB Zyon McCollum sets high bar for his 2024 production

Zyon McCollum is chasing a big stat that Bucs fans haven’t seen in nearly 15 years

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers haven’t had a defensive back tally six interceptions in a season since Aqib Talib did it in 2010, but third-year cornerback Zyon McCollum wants to be the one to end that streak.

A fifth-round pick two years ago out of Sam Houston State, McCollum has a rare blend of size, speed and athleticism, and has shown flashes of lofty potential over his two seasons in the league.

But after the Carlton Davis III trade opened up a spot in the starting lineup, McCollum now has his chance to be an every-down presence across from Jamel Dean on the outside.

That being the case, McCollum is chasing that big number of takeaways this season:

Tampa Bay’s secondary as a whole has struggled in recent years to create enough turnovers, so if McCollum is able to hit that mark, it would be a massive win for the entire unit.
