Bryson tracker: Why we couldn’t get our hands on the driver DeChambeau will use at the Masters

All this week, I’ll follow DeChambeau through his rounds at Augusta National, as he tries to improve on his 34th place finish in the fall.

There’s been plenty of talk about Bryson DeChambeau’s 4.5-degree driver he’s unveiling this week, the latest version of Cobra’s RadSpeed driver that hit the U.S. Golf Association’s conforming list this week. Cobra Tour rep Ben Schomin said it has a 5.5-degree face that DeChambeau will adjust to 4.5 degrees.

As I said this morning on our Instagram Live “Mornings from Augusta”:

“I asked Cobra to actually send me a replica of Bryson’s driver to which they said we would love to but it’s physically impossible because it’s one-of-a-kind. Any golf club that you’re going to have in your set, any kind of golf club that you would buy in any store has to go on what’s called the conforming club list — the USGA and the R&A have to make sure it’s legal for play …  Bryson’s driver went on to the conforming list Monday. It is never going to be available at retail.”
