Ahead of the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course, golf fans had a crazy idea. An awesome idea! They wanted to pair golf’s biggest rivals, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka. And the U.S. Golf Association explored the idea, according to retired PGA golfer and analyst Brad Faxon.
The USGA approached DeChambeau’s agent to see if the golfer would play with Koepka. And DeChambeau declined. It was probably the right decision for DeChambeau, but it also deprived golf fans of tremendous entertainment for the opening round. Those two do not like each other. It would be must-see TV if they had to spend 18 holes together.
During an appearance on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio, Faxon shared what he knew about the USGA’s idea of a Bryson-Brooks pairing.

Koepka will tee off at 7:29 a.m. and DeChambeau will tee off at 1:14 p.m., but that might make for an opportunity for them to bump into each other — or roll eyes at one another — at the clubhouse, as noted by Yahoo!’s Jay Busbee
