Matt Corral of the Carolina Panthers is switching to his college jersey number, and that paves the way for Bryce Young to wear No. 9 in the NFL.
Corral wore No. 2 at Ole Miss and prior to the NFL draft asked the Panthers if he could switch to that number.
In doing so, he paved the way for Young, the first overall pick in the selection process, to wear his college number, 9.

The rest of the 2023 rookie class have also gotten new numbers with Jonathan Mingo wearing No. 15, DJ Johnson wearing No. 52, Chandler Zavala wearing No. 62 and Jammie Robinson wearing No. 22.
