Alabama quarterback [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] will be a junior in the upcoming 2022 season, which means he is eligible to enter the 2023 NFL draft once the college football season concludes. Though nothing is guaranteed, it’s not likely that the reigning Heisman Trophy recipient will return for a senior season.
NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah recently put together a scouting report on Young. Jeremiah mentions positives in Young’s game, such as his accuracy and decision-making abilities. He also points out aspects of Young’s game that need improvement, such as a need to bulk up before getting to the NFL.
He offers a comparison. Jeremiah believes he sees shades of former New Orleans Saints quarterback, and future Hall of Fame member, Drew Brees.
“There really isn’t a clean comparison for Young. However, I see the most similarities to a young Drew Brees,” Jeremiah writes. “Both guys lack ideal size, but they make up for it with elite processing and accuracy. I think Brees was a similar athlete at that stage of his career. They are pure point guards. The ball comes out quick and the placement is excellent.”
Finally, Jeremiah states that he is excited to see Young perform against a young and eager Texas A&M defense, as will highlight Young’s strengths and display his ability to perform under serious pressure.
