Do you hear that?
That’s the slow drumbeat that’s been building for Aggies starting center Bryce Foster, who was recently named to Athlon Sports‘ list of College Football’s “Top 50 Breakout Players for 2022”, adding to an already lengthy list of preseason watchlists as the Aggies center begins his second season at the pivot.
Before committing to Texas A&M on Dec. 18, 2020, Foster was a 4-year starter, and unanimous first-team all-district selection during his 2019 junior season and his 2020 senior season during his time at Taylor High School in Katy, Texas. As one of the most versatile offensive linemen in the 2020 recruiting class, he was slotted into the center position during the 2021 season after numerous preseason injuries, solidifying his future at the spot after the retirement of Luke Matthews.
Foster started in all 12 games last season and was named to the 2021 SEC All-Freshman Team, 2021 FWAA Freshman All-America Team, and the 2021 The Athletic Freshman All-America First Team. Athlon Sports writer Steve Lasson briefly explained his reasoning for including Bryce Foster as one of the Top 50 breakout players this college football season:
It’s not easy to start as a center in the SEC as a true freshman, but that’s exactly what Foster did in 2021. He started all 12 games for the Aggies and allowed only three sacks on 752 blocking snaps per PFF. Look for Foster to only get better in year two in the middle of Texas A&M’s line.
Look for Bryce Foster to be one of the most dominant offensive linemen this season, and future NFL Draft buzz to come with it.
