Bruce Brown came from not getting into the rotation to now starting for the Brooklyn Nets. Brown was traded to Brooklyn in November from Detroit for Dzanan Musa and a 2021 second round pick.
Kyrie Irving and other players in the league raved about Brown’s defense last year when he played for the Pistons. Early last season, Brown held Irving to 2-10 shooting from the field along with two turnovers.
Defense has always been there for the former Miami Hurricane. This season however, it has actually been his offense standing out more. In the last 4 games, Bruce Brown has recorded at least 10 points. What is even more bizarre is that he is doing this by staying efficient from the field. Brown is shooting 58% from the field on the season and when taking shots from less than five feet from the basket he is shooting 73% according to statmuse.com. This means if Brown catches the ball in the paint, we are more than likely to see him throw up that quick floater which has been his bread and butter all season.
Something that Bruce Brown will need to work on to improve himself is his three point shooting. Yes, Brown has opted into playing center as a 6’3 guard. Yes, Brown is defending every position out there. One thing we have not seen Brown do as of yet is shooting the three ball with more confidence. He is shooting a career low from behind the arc at 21% and he’s attempting a career low from behind the arc, barely even shooting one three a game.
Be on the lookout for Bruce Brown. He is the Brooklyn Nets’ hidden gem.
