B/R’s hypothetical trade scenario sends Courtland Sutton to Cowboys

Should the Broncos consider sending Courtland Sutton to the Cowboys for draft picks? The NFL’s trade deadline is Nov. 5.

With the NFL offseason dragging on for another week or so, hypothetical scenarios and hot takes are ways for fans to occupy time.

Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport recently put together eight hypothetical trades that would have an impact on the 2024 NFL playoff races. Davenport believed that if the Dallas Cowboys wanted to make a splash, going after Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton would help them make a postseason push.

“Of course, whether Sutton (who has been angling for a new contract) is in the long-term plans of a Denver team embarking on a rebuild under head coach Sean Payton and rookie quarterback Bo Nix is another matter,” Davenport wrote on B/R’s website.

“The Dallas Cowboys are allegedly “all-in” on the 2024 campaign. But the team has some potentially glaring needs at running back and wide receiver that could prevent it from repeating as NFC East champions.”

The Broncos have turned down multiple opportunities to trade Sutton in recent years, so no trade seems to be imminent. Sutton is clearly not happy with his contract situation, though, and it remains to be seen if the two sides will be able to find a middle ground. The NFL’s trade deadline is Nov. 5.
