Browns sign QB Joe Flacco ahead of Broncos game

Ahead of their game against the Broncos, the Browns signed Joe Flacco. Cleveland is still expected to start Dorian Thompson-Robinson at QB.

Ahead of their trip to Colorado to face the Denver Broncos in Week 12, the Cleveland Browns have added some veteran depth to their practice squad.

The Browns officially signed quarterback Joe Flacco to their practice squad on Monday. While he’s not on the 53-man roster at the moment, Flacco could be elevated to the game-day roster three times from the practice squad.

Flacco is not expected to start for Cleveland in Denver. The Browns are sticking with rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who led them to a 13-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11.

If DTR struggles going forward, however, Flacco will give Cleveland a veteran fallback option. It would not be surprising to see Flacco on the game-day roster when the Browns face the Broncos in Week 12.

Flacco, 38, played for the Baltimore Ravens from 2008-2018, winning Super Bowl XLVII following the 2012 season. After drafting Lamar Jackson in 2018, the Ravens traded Flacco to the Broncos for a fourth-round pick in 2019. Flacco went 2-6 as a starter in Denver and he’s bounced around the league as a backup since then. The Browns will be Flacco’s fifth team.
