Browns rookie DT Mike Hall Jr. set to play just days after domestic violence arrest

The rookie is dressed for the game.

As the Cleveland Browns get set to take on the Minnesota Vikings in their second preseason game, rookie defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. will play.

On the surface, this does not seem like necessary news to relay, but considering he was just arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence on Tuesday, seeing him in uniform is a bit jarring.

The Browns could be using the same punishment many teams deploy in the preseason for players who step out of line: play the whole exhibition game. This is what the Browns did with Antonio Callaway back in 2018 after he was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

An OVI, however, is much different than what was reported in Hall’s situation.

The Browns have yet to address Hall’s situation since they put out an obligatory statement when they first found out about the arrest. Head coach Kevin Stefanski will have questions to answer after this game, however. We’ll see how long Hall Jr. actually plays.
