The toughness of Deshaun Watson has come into question over the last two weeks as the quarterback of the Cleveland Browns looks likely to miss his second straight game. However, offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt does not want to hear any of it around Watson.
“I would never, ever, ever doubt his toughness, ever… that is not the issue… he’s tough as nails.”
There you have it. In all reality, the injury has turned out to be more severe than initially thought. There is no tin foil conspiracy needed. A Week 6 game against an NFC opponent is not a must-win game or a game that will decide the Browns’ season. If the Browns need this week to get Watson, David Njoku, Ethan Pocic, Joel Bitonio, and Myles Garrett healthy, they can do so.
The Browns have the opportunity to rattle off a series of wins over their last 12 games, eight of which come against AFC opponents. There are more pressing issues later down the line than what is happening in Week 6.
