Browns: Myles Garrett is lapping every other pass rusher in 2023

The Browns have one-of-one in Myles Garrett, and it shows as film analyst Brandon Thorn put in the work on the top pass rushers in the NFL

There is nobody better at evaluating pass rushers in the NFL than Trench Warfare’s Brandon Thorn. And the best in the business says the Cleveland Browns have a special player in Myles Garrett as he is one-of-one in the NFL.

Through four games this season, Garrett sits with 5.5 sacks on the season, behind just Khalil Mack (who posted all six last week), T.J. Watt, and Josh Allen. However, when peeling back the curtain a bit more, it is easy to see Garrett is the best pass rusher in the NFL.

According to Thorn, Garrett is tied for third in True Pressure Rate, a metric of Thorn’s own creation. However, only one of Garrett’s pressures was deemed less than high quality. His Pressure Quality Ratio quadruples that of the next man in line in Micah Parsons. You can see Thorn’s data below:

Thorn went on to write:

“No, this is not a typo, Myles Garrett is posting an absurd PQR of 16.0, meaning all but one of his pressures this season have been high-quality. That is hard to comprehend, but does fit the theme from last year’s data where Garrett’s PQR of 3.12 was also the best in the NFL, although not this disproportionate to his peers (second in PQR last year was Micah Parsons at 2.27).”

So stop pointing fingers at Garrett every time the Browns come up short on the scoreboard.
