The Cleveland Browns may have dodged a massive bullet today after their second-leading receiver and tight end David Njoku exited today’s loss against the Baltimore Ravens with an ankle injury. Leaving on crutches and in a walking boot, the injury to Njoku’s ankle looked more serious than it actually might be as ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that Njoku sustained only a sprain. Njoku even had some encouraging words, tweeting out “Be back soon” after the injury.
This is good news for the Browns, as Njoku is in the midst of a massive breakout campaign after signing a long-term contract in Cleveland this summer. At this point, Njoku is on pace for 82 catches and over 1,000 yards receiving, a mark only four tight ends hit a year ago.
According to Schefter, Njoku will still undergo testing to see the severity of the sprain. However, with the Browns on a long week, as they take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football, the extra day could give Njoku the chance to suit up for the primetime lights.
Be back soon 🦁
