Baker Mayfield remains insistent he will play on Sunday in Pittsburgh when the Cleveland Browns take on the Steelers in a key AFC North battle. The Browns have taken a more cautious approach with the quarterback and his injured ribs.
Mayfield was limited in Thursday’s practice session with the bruised ribs. Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt offered an optimistic update on Thursday after Mayfield was also restricted in action on Wedneday.
“I didn’t get the chance to see him [throw on Wed.], Van Pelt said. “That was after practice with the training staff. I know he’s feeling better just talking to him. I did catch him in the training room this morning so things are feeling better. He’s trending in the right direction.”
Mayfield said after Sunday’s game that “momma didn’t raise a wuss” and that he had no issue playing through pain. The final injury report comes out Friday afternoon.
