It seems that Grant Delpit is a perfect scheme fit for Jim Schwartz’s defense as the fourth-year safety has been impressive. PFF agrees as they have the Cleveland Browns’ safety as their fourth highest-graded safety of 2023 at an 85.1 overall grade. He also received an 87.9 grade in coverage as the Browns have moved him all over the field to create good matchups for the defense.
Delpit has shown great improvement as a tackler which was a major knock on him coming out of LSU. He already has 10 stop tackles through four games as he has shown to be an impactive player in coverage, run support, and as a blitzer to create pressure.
So far in coverage players are averaging only four yards per reception when he is covering them. Delpit has only allowed 29 yards after reception total on the whole season which is a ridiculous number. Even when he allows a reception he ends the play quickly to limit explosive plays.
