Browns elevate volatile and controversial former first round pick from practice squad

Wide receiver Kadarius Toney will suit up for the Browns for the first time.

As the Cleveland Browns get set to take on the New Orleans Saints in Week 11, they have elevated wide receiver Kadarius Toney from the practice squad.

This game against the Saints will be Toney’s first time dressing in a Browns uniform.

Toney, a former first round pick of the New York Giants, was quickly shipped out after just one season to the Kansas City Chiefs. Even with quarterback Patrick Mahomes and a winning culture, Toney was unable to find any success, routinely known for making costly plays offensively.

In four years, Toney only managed to rack up 760 yards and three touchdowns between the Giants and Chiefs. He did add another touchdown on a manufactured rushing attempt.

For the Browns, however, they have a pretty firm trio of receivers who have produced since turning the keys over to quarterback Jameis Winston. If anything, Toney will be used as a return specialist on Sunday against the Saints.

Can the former first rounder make an impact in his first opportunity with the Browns?
