Browns clear a one peculiar roster spot at a key position

Is the return of their superstar closer than thought!?

The Cleveland Browns opened the 21-day practice window for running back Nick Chubb this week, and now peculiarly have waived running back Gary Brightwell.

Brightwell was added to the 53-man roster off of the practice squad after Pierre Strong Jr. hurt his hamstring in practice to give the Browns a third body behind Jerome Ford and D’Onta Foreman. This move could have been made because Strong is now healthy enough to play again and the Browns can use that 53rd roster spot somewhere else on the roster.

It could also mean, however, that the Browns may activate Chubb off of the Physically Unable to Perform list sooner in that 21-day window than anticipated.

The Browns enter their Week 5 matchup against the Washington Commanders in desperate need of a win after dropping two in a row. This week is virtually a must-win for the Browns, so there may be a sense of urgency from the team and running back to get back on the field and give Cleveland a massive, massive boost.

Look out for a corresponding move one way or the other.
