The Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs matchup in Week 1 was bound to be a good one. The Chiefs were coming off back to back Super Bowl appearances, with one win, while the Browns were coming off their first playoff appearance in a long-time and were seen as real challengers to Kansas City.
The game itself proved to be everything that was expected. It was a closely contested battle in the fourth quarter between two very good teams. While Cleveland came up short in the end, they proved that they belonged on the field. The Chiefs showed just how hard it is to beat them.
On Tuesday came word that the expectations for the game, and the game flow itself, helped the viewership for CBS:

Not only did the game have expectations but both fan bases are passionate about their teams. Browns fans have been engaging in putrid affairs from their team for decades and are not about to miss the quality product put on the field. Fans of Kansas City know how exciting the offense is and wanted to see how their new offensive line came together.
The result wasn’t what Cleveland wanted but the team is hoping to have another crack at the Chiefs in the playoffs. Based on the ratings in Week 1, television networks would love that as well.
