Brooklyn Nets select forward Jalen Wilson with 51st overall pick

The Brooklyn Nets select forward Jalen Wilson with the 51st overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

NEW YORK — For their final draft pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, the Brooklyn Nets with a winning pedigree as a collegiate player. With the 51st overall pick in the draft, the Nets selected Kansas forward Jalen Wilson.

Wilson, 22, comes into the NBA having shown that he can be the lead guy on a Kansas team that was looking to win it all before losing in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Wilson, listed at 6-foot-8 and 215 pounds, enters the Brooklyn organization with experience in different roles and has been coached well by one of the best coaches in college basketball in Bill Self.

Wilson is a player who brings versatility on the offensive end as he’s able to score on the interior and is able to make an impact on the perimeter as well. Wilson proved that he was one of the best players in college basketball by being named to the All-American first-team for the 2022-23 season. What Wilson will need to improve on to stick around in the league is his three-point shooting (31.6% for his career) and being better on the defensive end.
