Fans of the Brooklyn Nets say that the teams recent success this season is mostly because of head coach Jacque Vaughn, according to a poll done by NetsDaily of SB Nation earlier this week. In the poll, fans were given five people to vote for: head coach Jacque Vaughn, forward Kevin Durant, guard Kyrie Irving, general manager Sean Marks, and governor Joe Tsai.
Vaughn garnered 53% of the vote while the next closest choice (Kevin Durant) got 29% of the vote. Under Vaughn, the Nets are 25-8 and have had a different energy about them. From watching the team since Steve Nash was fired after a 2-5 start, it appears that the players like Vaughn’s approach and how simple he has made the overall basketball operation.
Kevin Durant, who is currently out because of an MCL sprain in his right knee, has been having an MVP-caliber kind of season. He is averaging 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 55.9% from the field and 37.6% from behind the three-point line.
