Moneyline
Even with Brooklyn being without Claxton and Johnson, I’ll back the NETS (-115) on the road in Monday’s matchup. While the Nets are seeking their 1st win of the season, they are the superior team, and they swept the Hornets in the season series last season.
The Hornets also have a true-shooting percentage of 53.6 (22nd in the NBA), so I don’t think they’ll convert enough shots to defeat the Nets.
Against the spread
NETS -1.5 (+100) has fantastic value as Brooklyn should come away with a victory against an inferior Charlotte squad. The trio of F Mikal Bridges, G Ben Simmons, and Thomas is enough to secure the road win.
Despite losing their 1st 2 games, the Nets are 2-0 ATS to begin the season. Meanwhile, the Hornets are coming off a game in which they failed to cover as 4.5-point favorites at home against the Pistons in a 12-point loss.
Over/Under
Any game involving the Hornets is likely going to be played at a fast pace, making OVER 227.5 (-110) an enticing wager. Charlotte plays at the 2nd-fastest pace in the NBA through 2 games, while Brooklyn is 8th in offensive rating so far.
