Bronny James expected to debut for USC Trojans on Sunday

USC Trojans basketball guard Bronny James is expected to debut on Sunday against Long Beach State with his dad, LeBron James, in attendance.

The long-awaited debut for USC Trojans freshman guard Bronny James could be just a few days away, with coach Andy Enfield indicating they expect Bronny to play on Sunday, December 10, against Long Beach State.

Bronny was a full participant in a full-contact practice on Thursday, according to LA Times reporter Ryan Kartje, and that appeared to be the final hurdle for Bronny’s recovery from cardiac arrest back in July.

Fans in attendance on Sunday will not only likely see Bronny’s first college basketball action, they’ll get a glimpse of Bronny’s father – NBA superstar LeBron James – who indicated he would be at his son’s first game even if it interfered with his schedule with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Fortunately for LeBron (and Lakers fans), the team is off between December 8-11, so expect a big celebrity sighting at the Galen Center on Sunday at 1:00 PM for tip-off.

James is not only the son of one of the greatest basketball players of all time, he’s a quality prospect on his own merit, ranking inside the top 30 in the class of 2023 at 247Sports.

His return will add to an already excellent backcourt at USC, led by No. 1 overall freshman Isaiah Collier and fifth-year senior Boogie Ellis, who are each averaging over 17 points through the team’s first seven games.

The Trojans are 5-3 on the year after falling in Las Vegas to the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Long Beach State secured a big-time win on the road over Michigan, but they are 6-4 on the season overall.
