Good news has arrived for Bronny James and the James family. Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Bronny has been discharged from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and is now resting at home.
The statement from the consulting cardiologist for Bronny James said his “workup will be ongoing,” but that the medical experts caring for him are “encouraged by his response, resilience, and his family and community support.”
Bronny James endured an episode of cardiac arrest on Monday during USC basketball workouts.
Trojan teammate Vince Iwuchukwu suffered an incident of cardiac arrest one year earlier during a USC basketball workout. Iwuchukwu was able to resume workouts late in 2022 before playing his first USC game on January 12, 2023. We will have to wait and see what kind of medical progress Bronny James makes. His situation will obviously be very closely monitored. One should not make any assumptions about when — if ever — he will be medically cleared to play. It’s a genuine wait-and-see situation which will require patience from everyone involved, most of all Bronny himself.
We wish Bronny James the best and hope for his full recovery. Our prayers continue to go out to Bronny, the James family, and his friends and USC teammates.
