Because the Broncos have so much depth at wide receiver, seventh-round draft pick Tyrie Cleveland will be a longshot to make the 53-man roster. To have a better chance of making the team, Cleveland will need to impress and training camp and make an impact on special teams.

So far, Cleveland is trending in the right direction.

“I’ve liked him so far,” coach Vic Fangio said after practice on Aug. 20. “What I’ve liked is I think he’s gotten a little bit better each day since he’s been here all the way back to the early group of training camp. I just think he’s gotten a little bit better and better each day. I like his demeanor. I like his work ethic.

“I think he’s a guy that will bring special teams value if he’s a guy that suits up on game day if he makes the team. I like where he’s at right now. Hopefully he won’t level off. Hopefully he’ll continue to improve.”

In four seasons at Florida, Cleveland caught 79 passes for 1,271 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s competing for one of the last spots on the roster.
