Broncos roster series: No. 8, QB Jarrett Stidham

Entering his sixth year in the NFL, Jarrett Stidham will aim to begin a season as a starter for the first time in his career.

Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at sixth-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham, No. 8 (he switched from No. 4 this offseason).

Before the Broncos: Stidham (6-3, 215 pounds) was picked by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft out of Auburn. He appeared in five games through his first two seasons, completing 50% of his passes for 270 yards with two touchdowns against four interceptions.

After serving as a third-string backup in 2021, Stidham was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022 in exchange for a late-round draft pick. He started the final two games of that season, completing 63.9% of his passes for 656 yards with four touchdowns against three interceptions.

Broncos tenure: Denver signed Stidham to a two-year, $10 million deal during free agency in 2023. After the Broncos benched Russell Wilson last fall, Stidham started the final two games of the year with a 60.6% completion rate, 496 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

Chances to make the 53-man roster: Likely. Stidham is competing with Bo Nix and Zach Wilson for the starting job this summer. Even if he doesn’t end up being QB1, Stidham seems likely to make the team as a veteran backup. If Nix wins the starting job, Stidham could serve as a mentor in 2024.
