Broncos roster series: No. 32, DB Delarrin Turner-Yell

A key special teams player, Broncos third-year safety Delarrin Turner-Yell will aim to earn more rotational playing time on defense in 2024.

Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at third-year safety Delarrin Turner-Yell, No. 32.

Before the Broncos: Turner-Yell (5-11, 200 pounds) spent four years at Oklahoma, totaling 134 tackles, six pass breakups, four interceptions, one forced fumble and a half-sack in 40 games. He earned second-team All-Big 12 recognition in 2021 after recording three interceptions.

Broncos tenure: Denver picked Turner-Yell in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL draft. He played exclusively on special teams as a rookie with 251 snaps. Last fall, he remained a key special teams player (308 snaps) while also emerging as a rotational defensive back (210 snaps). Turner-Yell totaled 34 tackles with one pass breakup and one quarterback hit in 16 games (two starts) last season.

Chances to make the 53-man roster: Likely. Turner-Yell is an important special teams player for the Broncos, so he seems likely to make the team as a backup safety in 2024. Turner-Yell is poised to serve as the team’s fourth safety behind Brandon Jones, Caden Sterns and P.J. Locke.
