Broncos roster series: No. 12, WR Tim Patrick

After missing the last two years due to injury, Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick will aim to have a big comeback year in 2024.

Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at eighth-year wide receiver Tim Patrick, No. 12 (formerly No. 81).

Before the Broncos: Patrick (6-4, 212 pounds) entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Utah with the Baltimore Ravens in 2017. He was waived during training camp that summer and then picked up by the San Francisco 49ers, who cut him when they finalized their 53-man roster.

Broncos tenure: Almost two months after he was cut by the 49ers, Patrick signed with Denver’s practice squad. He made the active roster in 2018 and served as a rotational backup that fall. Patrick then missed half of the 2019 season with a hand injury before breaking out in 2020.

From 2020-2021, Patrick totaled 104 receptions for 1,476 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Broncos rewarded that production with a three-year, $30 million contract extension. The receiver then missed the entire 2022 (ACL) and 2023 (Achilles) seasons due to injuries.

Chances to make the 53-man roster: Likely. Due to his age (30) and injury history, Patrick is not a lock to make the team, but he has good odds. After adjusting his contract this spring, Patrick will hope to have a big comeback year in 2024 before hitting free agency in 2025.
