During an interview with Marcus Cromartie last week, former Chargers running back Melvin Gordon was asked about the possibility of NFL teams playing games without fans in their stadiums this fall.
Gordon’s response was perfect.
“Bro, we didn’t have fans anyway,” Gordon said. “We didn’t have many Chargers fans, I’m being honest we didn’t have many Chargers fans at the games . . . so I’m not missing anything.”
This isn’t the first time Gordon has dunked on Chargers fans.
After signing a two-year contract with the Broncos during free agency, Gordon held a Zoom conference call with Denver media members.
“You definitely have a way bigger fan base,” Gordon said during the call on March 27. “Since I’ve been a Charger, there was always — I always felt like it was an away game when we played the Broncos and pretty much any team.
“Definitely at Qualcomm, it was always a sea of orange. We just didn’t have that many fans.”
This year, Gordon will share carries with Phillip Lindsay at Empower Field at Mile High, which has no trouble selling out seemingly every week.
