Broncos ranked No. 24 in mid-free agency NFL power rankings

One week into the official start of NFL free agency, the Broncos are still considered a lowly team in power rankings.

The Denver Broncos are ranked No. 24 in Touchdown Wire’s mid-free agency NFL power rankings, just one spot higher than they were in TD Wire’s last power rankings.

TD Wire’s Mark Schofield noted that Broncos safety Justin Simmons should be a “cornerstone of their back third for the next few years,” as long as they reach a long-term agreement after an initial franchise tag designation.

“They also acquired corner A.J. Bouye via trade, easing the loss of Chris Harris Jr,” Schofield said. “Vannett can serve ideally as a second option at tight end behind Noah Fant, and Melvin Gordon now gives the Broncos a pair of talented running backs. Finally, Graham Glasgow was perhaps the best interior offensive lineman available . . . .”

One oversight was the addition of defensive lineman Jurrey Casey, who was acquired in a trade with the Titans. Casey, a five-time Pro Bowler, should make Denver’s defense even better this season.

Schofield seems to believe the Broncos have improved, but not by much.
