Broncos QB Teddy Bridgewater ‘doing well’ after being released from hospital

Broncos QB Teddy Bridgewater was released from the hospital on Monday and he is “doing well,” the team said. Bridgewater is now in concussion protocol.

Denver Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was taken to a local hospital after suffering a head injury during Sunday’s 15-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Bridgewater was released from the hospital on Monday and he is “doing well,” the team said in a statement on Twitter. Bridgewater will now enter the NFL’s concussion protocol for the second time this season (he also suffered a head injury in Week 4).

Bridgewater’s teammates were glad to see the quarterback able to move his extremities after he was placed on a backboard to leave the field on Sunday.

“When we saw him move and turn his hands over a little bit, we knew he was OK,” outside linebacker Bradley Chubb said after the game. “It’s still traumatizing. It’s still sad to see your leader and your quarterback go down like that, and we’re all behind him. At this point, football doesn’t matter. His health is what’s most important.

“I hope he’s doing everything he can to make sure his mind is right and that everything is OK with him because at the end of day, you don’t want to have a traumatic brain injury. That’s one of those things that you don’t want to see. I’m praying for Teddy. I know he’s going to be the warrior he is and bounce back but it’s definitely scary to see.”

If Bridgewater does not clear the concussion protocol in time for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Drew Lock will start in his place.
