Broncos QB Russell Wilson: ‘We are going to turn this thing around’

“I am looking forward to winning [in 2023],” Russell Wilson said. “That is what we came here to do and that is what we are going to do.”

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson had a season to forget in 2022, but he ended the year on a positive note, throwing three touchdown passes in a 31-28 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in the team’s season finale.

That strong finish to the season has given Broncos fans some reason for optimism going into 2023, and Wilson shares that optimism.

“Hopefully, a lot of wins and get back to what we know how to do,” Wilson said when asked after the team’s season finale what his expectations are for next season. “I think that what I’m excited about is what I came here to do is to win championships. This year didn’t happen and every year you go into hoping that’s the case.

“I’ve been fortunate to be at the highest level sometimes but sometimes you go through tough times, too. I know that with the diligence that we’re going to put into it together, what I’m going to give to this every single day, and then the excitement of it all here and with new changes and everything else, we’re going to continue to grow together.”

Wilson suggested that with several key players set to return from injuries in 2023, the Broncos are on the verge of getting back on track and competing for Super Bowls again.

“We are going to turn this thing around,” the QB said. “I am excited about it. It starts with me, and it starts with all of us together. I am looking forward to it. I am looking forward to winning. I am looking forward to winning here and what we are capable of. That is what we came here to do and that is what we are going to do.”

After a bitter 2022 campaign, fans in Denver will understandably point out that actions speak louder than words. Wilson has talked the talk. Now he has to back it up.
