Broncos QB Drew Lock: Offense ‘might not be the prettiest at first’

“We’re going to put in the extra work to be able to make up for that time lost,” Broncos quarterback Drew Lock said.

With no on-field organized team activities or minicamps in the spring and no preseason games this summer, Broncos players will have less time to pick up Pat Shurmur’s offense than they would in a usual offseason.

“We’re going to have a shortened period of time where we’re going to have to pick up a lot of things extremely quickly,” quarterback Drew Lock said during a Zoom conference call on July 31.

Lock’s not making excuses; he’s being realistic. The second-year QB said he and his teammates will have some growing pains early in the season.

“It might not be the prettiest at first, but our job is to make the mistake, learn from it and try not to make that mistake more than once because we really don’t have time to keep making the same mistakes.”

After being surrounded by talent this offseason, Lock has been set up for success. Lock is confident that the team will build on a promising end to the 2019 season — with a few bumps along the way.

“I’m still expecting [good] things from us this year because we’re going to put in the extra work to be able to make up for that time lost.”
