Oddsmakers don’t like Drew Lock’s chances of winning the NFL MVP award next season. Lock, who went 4-1 as a starter with the Broncos last year, has 150/1 odds to win the award in 2020, according to BetMGM.
That means if a fan bets $100 that Lock will win the MVP award and the QB does so, that fan would receive a payout of $15,100.
Lock, 23, completed 64.1 percent of his passes for 1,020 yards with seven touchdown passes against three interceptions in five games last year. If he had kept up that pace and played a full 16-game season, Lock would have had a 3,264-yard, 22-touchdown year.
Last year, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson took home MVP honors after gaining over 4,000 yards and scoring 43 touchdowns. The year before that, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took home MVP honors after totaling more than 5,000 yards and scoring 52 touchdowns.
Given the standard established in recent years of what an MVP season looks like, it seems fair for Las Vegas to consider Lock a longshot to win the award. Unless he makes a massive jump in production, Lock probably won’t be in the running to take home MVP honors next season.
