Broncos QB Bo Nix comments on pressure of competing for NFL playoffs

“We have to finish the task at hand,” Broncos QB Bo Nix said. “It’s right there in front of us. We just have to go take it.”

It’s do-or-die time for the Denver Broncos.

With a win (or tie) against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, the Broncos would clinch a spot in the NFL playoffs. If Denver losses to KC, the Broncos would need help from two other teams to sneak into the postseason.

Denver only needed one win going into the final three weeks of the season to clinch a playoff berth. After going 0-2 in the first two games, Broncos quarterback Bo Nix aims to take care of business on Sunday.

“Our goal the past couple of weeks is get to 10 [wins],” Nix said when asked about the pressure of the situation on Wednesday. “We have another opportunity to do that. I think this lifestyle, this situation, there are some quarterbacks who just kind of live with pressure. That’s just kind of second nature at this point. I believe pressure is a privilege, and I was taught that a long time ago. There’s no pressure without opportunity. Right now, that means we have a great opportunity to go do something special.”

Denver can clinch its first playoff berth since 2015 after previously clinching its first winning season since 2016 earlier in the campaign.

“Obviously, it would mean a lot,” Nix said of potentially reaching the postseason. “It would mean a lot to the organization, everyone who’s put time and effort into this organization to make it what it is. It’s a special place, special fans, special atmosphere. We have players who have worked really hard, and it would be really important to them.

“So it goes without saying. It’s a really important thing. It’s a really important opportunity. We just have to finish. We have to finish the task at hand. It’s right there in front of us. We just have to go take it.”

Sunday’s game will be regionally televised on CBS (view the TV map). With the Chiefs resting key starters, the Broncos are considered favorites at home in Week 18.
