Denver Broncos cornerback A.J. Bouye (shoulder) has been placed on injured reserve, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.
Bouye dislocated his shoulder during a 16-14 loss to the Tennessee Titans on “Monday Night Football” in Week 1. He will be eligible to return from injured reserve after three weeks.
With Bouye sidelined, Bryce Callahan and Michael Ojemudia are expected to serve as the team’s two starting cornerbacks against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2. Essang Bassey will play in the slot.
To provide more depth at cornerback, Denver called up De’Vante Bausby from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Bausby will join Davontae Harris and Duke Dawson as Denver’s backup CBs this week.
Before leaving Monday’s game, Bouye played well and broke up one pass. The Broncos traded a fourth-round draft pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for the 29-year-old CB earlier this year. Bouye is set to earn $26,937,500 through the 2021 season before hitting free agency in 2022.
