Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at second-year center Alex Forsyth, No. 54.
Before the Broncos: Forsyth (6-4, 312 pounds) was a stalwart at the University of Oregon, playing in 39 games from 2017-2022, mostly at the center position. Forsyth was a versatile lineman, playing several positions across the offensive line. He was part of the 2022 Ducks team which featured now-reunited teammate quarterback Bo Nix, who threw for over 3,500 yards, 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Broncos tenure: Forsyth was selected by the Broncos in the seventh round (257th overall) of the 2023 NFL draft. Forsyth did not see any action during the 2023 season, but GM George Paton has said the team thinks of him as a starting-caliber center.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Near-lock. Forsyth had exceptional talent in college, but his draft stock was hurt by injuries. Depending on how the highly-anticipated quarterback battle goes for the Broncos, Forsyth could be a long-term solution at center for Oregon compatriot Bo Nix. Forsyth will compete with Sam Mustipher and Luke Wattenberg for the starting center job this summer. If he doesn’t win the starting job, Forysth would presumably still make the active roster as the top backup center.
