Broncos LB Alex Singleton out for season with torn ACL

Broncos LB Alex Singleton will miss the rest of the 2024 season after tearing his ACL against the Bucs.

Denver Broncos starting inside linebacker Alex Singleton will miss the rest of the 2024 season after tearing his ACL against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3, coach Sean Payton announced Wednesday.

Singleton tore his ACL during safety Brandon Jones’ interception eturn in the first quarter. The linebacker continued to play through the injury and did not find out about the severity of the injury until after the game when he reported soreness.

“[H]e played two-thirds of the game with — it was kind of remarkable,” Payton said. “Then he reported [that] he felt a little soreness. They looked at it, we looked at it some more, and then sure enough he’ll be scheduled for surgery probably about two weeks from now.

Singleton, 30, totaled 10 tackles in Tampa. He recorded 31 tackles and one interception through Denver’s first three games of the season.

The Broncos have three remaining inside linebackers on their active roster in Cody Barton, Kristian Welch and Justin Strnad. Denver also has rookie Levelle Bailey on the practice squad and the team just signed linebacker Kwon Alexander to the practice squad on Wednesday. The Broncos are also expected to sign linebacker Zach Cunningham to the practice squad.
