Broncos’ Jurrell Casey reacts to having game vs. Titans in Week 1

Jurrell Casey will get his first crack at the Titans in Week 1.

Former Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jurrell Casey is looking forward to a Week 1 matchup with his old team.

Of course, Casey was traded from the Titans to the Denver Broncos in March for a seventh-round pick in what amounted to a salary dump on Tennessee’s part.

When the schedule was released on Thursday night, it showed that the Titans would be seeing their old friend right away, as both Tennessee and Denver will meet on Monday Night Football in Week 1.

Titans safety Kevin Byard just wanted to make sure that Casey would leave his quarterback alone.

Casey was the Titans’ third-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and he spent each of his first nine seasons in the league in Nashville.

In that time, Casey became a fan-favorite and it one of the greatest defenders in franchise history. It’s going to be an emotional moment for the Titans’ players and fans to see him in another uniform.

Tennessee and Denver played in Week 6 last season, which resulted in the Titans getting shut out, 16-0.

That was also the last game Marcus Mariota would start for Tennessee, as Ryan Tannehill was substituted in during the loss and was later named the team’s starter the following week.

From Week 7 on, the Titans would go on a 7-3 run en route to making the playoffs. Their season would come to an end in the AFC Championship Game against the eventual Super Bowl winners, the Kansas City Chiefs.
