Broncos jump into top-10 spot in NFL power rankings

The NFL’s official website considers the Broncos a top-10 team this offseason.

NFL free agency is technically still ongoing but the first big wave has concluded. In his post-free agency power rankings, NFL.com’s Dan Hanzus has the Denver Broncos ranked No. 9. That’s a huge jump from their previous ranking of No. 23.

Here is Hanzus’ commentary with Denver’s ranking:

“Broncos Country: Let’s ride.” Russell Wilson has arrived with a new catch phrase and the promise to save the good people of Denver from QB purgatory. The opportunity to trade for a superstar quarterback is rare, so credit general manager George Paton for being aggressive and getting the deal done. The Broncos gave up multiple first-round picks to land their franchise quarterback, but the sting of the sticker price will dissipate when Wilson is playing like an MVP next fall. The Broncos went from pretender to contender overnight when they acquired Peyton Manning in the spring of 2012. A decade later, they pulled off the same trick.

Elsewhere in the AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs are ranked No. 3, the Los Angeles Chargers are ranked No. 8 and the Las Vegas Raiders are ranked No. 11. It’s clear that — at least on paper — there’s no better division in football going into the 2022 season.

The Buffalo Bills are ranked No. 1 and the Houston Texans are ranked No. 32. To view the complete power rankings, visit NFL.com.
