As the NFL’s trade deadline draws closer, reports and speculation about the future of quarterback Deshaun Watson has been heating up.
The Miami Dolphins have been heavily linked to Watson, but they are not the only team interested. The Carolina Panthers are also a team to watch.
Oddsmakers have picked the Dolphins as the favorites (3-2), followed by the Panthers (3-1), according to MaximBet. Three teams — including the Denver Broncos — are tied in third place with 5-1 odds (Denver’s joined by the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles).
In July, NFL Network reported that the Broncos were among four teams still interested in trading for Watson despite 22 women filing a lawsuit against the QB alleging sexual assault.
More recently, NFL Network mentioned Denver again on Sunday when discussing teams who might make a move for the QB.
It’s hard to imagine the Broncos trading for Watson before next week’s deadline given the nature of the allegations against him plus the uncertainty of the QB’s legal matter and future in the NFL. Miami or Carolina might be willing to trade for Watson before his off-field situation is resolved, but it seems unlikely that Denver would take that risk.
