The Denver Broncos completed a trade for Jurrell Casey on Thursday, trading a seventh-round pick to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a defensive lineman.
After the trade became official, Elway released a statement on the addition of Casey, a five-time Pro Bowler.
“Jurrell Casey is a top-flight defensive lineman who has been among the most productive players in the NFL at his position,” Elway said. “What stands out with Jurrell is how hard he plays, providing a consistent interior pass rush and coupling that with a strong presence against the run.
“In addition to being a perennial Pro Bowler, Jurrell is a respected locker room and community presence who brings strong leadership qualities to the Broncos.”
Casey (6-1, 305 pounds) totaled 493 tackles, 51 sacks, 12 passes breakups, eight forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries during his time in Tennessee. Casey is projected to start as a defensive end in Denver’s base 3-4 defense but he has the versatility to line up at multiple positions.
