Broncos fans turn attention to Von Miller after Russell Wilson trade

Von Miller has indicated he would like to return to the Broncos. Wouldn’t that be something!

Pending free agent outside linebacker Von Miller took to social media on Monday to indicate he is open to reuniting with the Denver Broncos.

Miller even assured Broncos fans on his Instagram story that he wasn’t merely teasing the possibility — he’d truly like to return.

“I wouldn’t tease y’all like that, man,” Miller said on Instagram. “It’s real, man. My first time ever being a free agent. I’m just sittin’ back on the beach waitin’ on it. Broncos Country, wassup?!”

That was Monday. On Tuesday, the Broncos agreed to trade for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. That will probably make Miller even more inclined to return to Denver (one also has to wonder if Miller might have had early information on the trade).

Miller also shared a photo of himself with Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton on his Instagram story on Tuesday.

The question now becomes, is the interest mutual?

Broncos general manager George Paton traded Miller to the Los Angeles Rams mid-season in 2021 in exchange for second- and third-round draft picks. That extra draft capital helped Denver acquire Wilson — could they now bring back Miller as well?

As always, the price will have to be right.

Miller will likely draw plenty of interest from teams seeking a high-profile pass rusher, perhaps setting a market in the $18-$20 million range. After acquiring Wilson’s contract, though, it’s hard to imagine the Broncos being willing to pay that much for a soon-to-be 33-year-old pass rusher.

If Miller truly wants to return to Denver and team up with Wilson, he might have to take a hometown discount. It remains to be seen if the two-time Super Bowl champion would be willing to take less than his market value.

The NFL’s free agency negotiating window opens March 14.
