Broncos drop two spots in NFL power rankings despite 2-0 start

Nate Davis has the Broncos two spots lower in NFL power rankings this week despite the team’s 2-0 start.

Despite starting the season with a 2-0 record, the Denver Broncos are only ranked 17th in Nate Davis’ latest NFL power rankings for USA TODAY Sports. That’s down two spots from their No. 15 ranking last week.

Here is Davis’ commentary with the Broncos’ ranking this week:

They’ve knocked out two bad teams and face another one (Jets) in Sunday’s home opener. Makes it hard to get a good bead on this Denver outfit, but winning games you’re supposed to get is a clear step in proper direction.

The New York Jets, who the Broncos will face in Week 3, are ranked No. 30.

Denver is ranked third in the AFC West, behind the Kansas City Chiefs (No. 3) and Las Vegas Raiders (No. 6), one spot above the Los Angeles Chargers (No. 18).

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers — the defending Super Bowl champs — are ranked No. 1 and the Jacksonville Jaguars are ranked No. 32. To view the complete NFL power rankings entering Week 3, visit USATODAY.com.
