The Denver Broncos completed their eighth and final initial-round head coach interview on Friday.
The Broncos interviewed Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn in person in Texas ahead of the Cowboys’ playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
Quinn, 52, is believed to be a top candidate for Denver given that he was a finalist for the job last year and has worked with general manager George Paton in the past. He is, however, just one of many candidates.
Before interviewing Quinn, the Broncos had in-person interviews with ex-New Orleans Saints HC Sean Payton, in-house DC Ejiro Evero, Los Angeles Rams DC Raheem Morris, 49ers DC DeMeco Ryans, ex-NFL HC Jim Caldwell and ex-Stanford HC David Shaw. Denver also had a virtual meeting with Jim Harbaugh (who elected to stay at Michigan).
Denver’s front office is not expected to interview any other candidates beyond those initial eight. Second-round interviews for the finalists will likely be scheduled for next week.
